March 23, 2016, I received a phone call that would forever change my life. I will never forget Cody’s name coming up on my phone, the sadness in his voice and how cold the cement floor felt as I dropped to my knees. Our dad took his life. My family and I have now lost our grandad, George, our uncle, Greg, and our dad, Bruce, all to suicide. Scents of a cigar or hearing the Rolling Stones play on the radio, still leave my heart aching for his presence. My grief changes and shifts with each season of my life where I experience pockets of loneliness, peace, joy, sorrow, and contentment. It has taken me 8 years to create something positive out of our family’s losses.

 

I started Bruce’s Blessings because I want every suicide loss survivor to have the opportunity to experience moments of comfort... someone to get a birthday card from or a small package, that is delivered right when they need it most!
